Bogus Callers in Penkridge – Please Stay Alert |
Good morning, hope you're well.
Over recent days we’ve received reports of bogus callers visiting addresses in Penkridge. On Wednesday 15th April at around 13:00, a grey 2022‑plate Transit van was seen in the area of Goods Station Lane. Three young males approached a property and told the residents that their roof needed repairing. These individuals were described as having strong Irish accents. Bogus callers are often highly convincing, deliberately targeting vulnerable or isolated residents, overcharging for poor‑quality work, or causing damage that wasn’t there beforehand. I’m aware of this incident and will be making enquiries around the vehicle involved and the individuals seen in the area. How to protect yourself and others Never agree to work on the doorstep – genuine traders don’t cold‑call. Keep your door closed while speaking to unexpected visitors. Check ID carefully and don’t be pressured into quick decisions. Look out for neighbours, especially those who may be more vulnerable. Report suspicious activity immediately so we can respond quickly. Need advice or want to know more? If you’d like further information or guidance on how to prevent being targeted by bogus callers, please get in touch with me:📧 phillip.millichap@staffordshire.police.uk📞 07790 583097 I’ll help wherever I can.
